Crested Ducks

Breeds descriptions note the Crested as a heavy duck, rather similar in shape to the Aylesbury. Its dominant feature – as the name implies – is the round crest of feathers worn on the back of the head. It comes in a variety of colours.

The crested gene can be introduced into any duck breed. The difficulty lies in getting the crest to be located near the top of the head. In some examples the crest appears somewhere on the side of the neck or off-centre on the head which is not desirable.
